Project description

In August 2023, Grow Your Reader Foundation, with the support and collaboration of Youth Planet, was able to expand their Book Garage project. The specific launch event took place on August 4th, where everyone involved walked a three-kilometre route and discovered the magic of street libraries.

Four street libraries were established outside four schools, bringing the joy of books to children and villagers. The schools were Darilla Goyeshpur Abdul Hamid High School in Purbo Darilla, Azijunnessa Girls School in Goyeshpur, Darilla Government Primary School in Panditpur, and Nandail Road High School on Nandail Road. The school authorities, students and villagers were present to inaugurate the libraries and celebrate the power of reading.

Youth Planet is the supervisory partner associated with Grow Your Reader Foundation in Mymensingh for Book Garage. On an ongoing basis, they will take care of these new street libraries and assist the local communities to organise regular reading circles.

Sadia says:

“Book Garage has showed the power of collaboration. Through Youth Planet, we were able to engage the villagers and stakeholders.”
